About Me

I don't know what to begin to classify my self as: Businessman, musician, veteran, student, parent, gamer... All of these things are a part of who I am but not what I am. Ok that's enough enigma for you, I am a deep thinker, not full of myself. Hello my name is Kevin. I grew up in Chicago, IL pretty much all around the city including a few of the "Burbs". I guess you could say I lived the typical middle class life... if such a thing exists. My parents were pretty adamant about my receiving the best education. As a result, I have been to "gifted" learning institutions, high priced private schools, I was even home schooled the last years of high school and graduated a year early with college scholarships. To sum up I am smarter than the average bear.

Unfortunately, when you're 17 years old and you go to a prestigious technical university with no adult supervision... you get the idea; Yogi wasn't so smart after all. So determined not to be 18 and still living with Mom and Dad, I joined the U.S. Air Force. I am not going to bore you with the details of what I did in the Air Force, so I'll cut straight to the facts. I did enjoy my time in, I didn't go overseas even though I wanted to, I met a lot of wonderful people as well as some less than enjoyable characters and I got out after a few years with an honorable discharge, a wife and two boys (two girls followed later).

So now I am just Joe Schmo trying to provide for his wife and kids. Things go pretty well for the first year and then I look up and we are in a recession. Not only that, it just happens to be one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression. Well I guess I can be grateful I am a part of history now. Anyways, I am a warrior until the end and I am an optimist.

I started this blog in that spirit of optimism. You see, ever since I received my first library card, I loved to read self-help books. It came from my Mom always telling me that I had "all book sense and no common sense".  Somehow, I figured at about 9 or 10 that common sense was in a book too (not entirely true). I have read all sorts of time management, money management, dating handbooks, sales books, even the Book of Proverbs in the bible. When the internet boom happened, it only made things worse (or better depending on how you look at it). So my love of almost anything self-help related is the reason for this blog.

Anyways, that is me in a nut shell, it is nice to meet you. This journey of self-evolution is one that we all share, and as I continue to learn more, I will share it with you (feel free to share things with me as well).
